Using the thesaurus

thesaurA – Österreichischer Frauenthesaurus indexes topics of women's and gender studies. Thesaurus and documentation are in German; this interface translates the structure around them. There are three ways in:

• Search (field above): finds concepts by their preferred term and by their synonyms (“used for”).
• Browse alphabetically: every descriptor from A to Z.
• By group: divided into the main part (Hauptteil), 17 subject groups (Sachgruppen) and the special lists (Sonderlisten) for occupations, form headings, places and periods.

Each concept shows its relations: broader / narrower concept (hierarchy), related concept (association) and — where a term appears in more than one part — the cross-reference “identischer Begriff” (identical concept) naming that part, e.g. (Hauptteil) or (SL Geographika).

Digital edition of the printed original (Klösch-Melliwa/Zach, Vienna 1996). It is reviewed and corrected continuously; the version in force is shown with each vocabulary under “Version”.
